While we wholeheartedly believe that every day should be "Random Acts of Kindness Day," the team at Giraffe decided to do our part to make the actual calendar day, February 17th, a day for people in central Ohio to feel the pure joy of receiving kindness from complete strangers. The only difference is that these acts of kindness weren't random at all. They were carefully planned and executed with the help of an awesome crew of good humans and generous sponsors. If you're looking for a little inspiration, here's a few of the acts of kindness we delivered.
FLOWERS...
Our team of Do Gooders spent the morning making bouquets of flowers that our friends at Expressions Floral Design Studio gave us. Later, we passed out the beautiful bouquets of beautiful blooms to strangers on the street and in restaurants where we were spreading joy. The smiles, shrieks, and tears we received upon handing these beautiful strangers a bouquet were more priceless than you can imagine.
CASH MONEY...
That's right, we passed out cold, hard, cash, compliments of our friends at Telhio Credit Union. OK, so it was only $10 to each person, but you would have thought it was $10,000 by the way they reacted. People stopped at traffic lights, in restaurants, and on the sidewalk were all the beneficiaries. I even witnessed one woman take a $5 bill out of her pocket as she was leaving the restaurant and intentionally drop it on the ground. She just kept on walking. Definitely one of those kind acts that made my heart nearly burst.
FREE BREAKFAST...
A friend of Do Gooder, Andrew Grunder, who is a corporate American Express card manager, decided he wanted to get in on the fun too. So we set up outside the McDonald's drive-thru and he paid for breakfast for more than 20 people. No strings attached. Just a happy way to start their day. Before we even got started outside though, we had to make sure the crew inside the restaurant were all taken care of too. So we dropped off goodie bags that included a Spritz Tea, snacks, and a free Do Gooder magazine to say thank you to each of them for working as hard as they do, during such difficult times.
